How to choose a parasailing company in Destin, Florida.

So many companies are in Destin it is overwhelming.  How do know if you are with the best? or safest?  You never really will unless you go to each one by one, which would cost too much and just be silly.  I have 5 things to think about when choosing, and I will try to be non-bias…… Some things will be standard for all companies.  Some will differ.

1st: Look at their website.  Most will have a list of questions and answers and you can begin to get a feel for the company.  A couple things to look for in the website is the type of boat, how high they put customers, and how many things the company offers.  The best type of boat is a CWS built boat.  They are the industry leader and have it down to a science.  Federal regulations in Destin keep all parasailing to 500′. Anything more is just a lie or against the law. If the company offers everything under the sun it is hard to keep up with everything.  Parasailing has to be a priority.

2nd: Make a phone call and get a feel for the company. We are in the service industry and you should be comfortable with the person answering your questions and signing you and your family up for this adventure. The booking agent should know almost everything about parasailing and be able to accommodate as best they can.

3rd: Find out how many boats the company has.  All the companies have good captains, however the 3rd and 4th boat captains will generally not be as experienced. I think it best to go with a company that only does parasail and that has one boat.

4th: Look at their location on google maps and see how far they are from where we actually parasail.  All of us have an area with a no wake zone. These can be hot and muggy in the summer and some companies will have you sitting in that heat for 20 minutes or more.

5th: Lastly, Find out if the boat is owner operated. Parasailing with the owner is always better.  The accountability is right there with you. He will make sure you are happy and that everything is done…..well, better.

I hope this helps in your decision in choosing the best Destin parasailing company for you and your family.  Enjoy!!
